RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) is a common respiratory virus that can cause serious illness, particularly in older adults, young children, and people with certain medical conditions. RSV vaccine offers strong protection against severe RSV disease and hospitalisation.

Who is eligible for a free RSV vaccine under the National Immunisation Program?

  • Adults aged 75 years and over

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 60 years and over

  • Pregnant women, from 28 weeks gestation

Who can access RSV vaccination privately?

  • Adults aged 60–74 without additional risk factors

  • Adults aged 50–59 with a medical condition that increases their risk of severe RSV disease
